ASL Airlines Ireland
ASL Airlines Ireland operates its network legally and in compliance with all applicable regulations – as do our partners. We do, however, recognise the strength of feeling within our teams following recent events in the Middle East. We have listened to these concerns and taken a number of steps in response.
– Firstly, we have conducted a thorough review of manifests alongside our business partners and confirm that ASL Airlines Ireland has not received any requests or goods declarations for weapons or munitions of war, nor carried any weapons or munitions of war to Israel since this conflict began. We have informed our customers that ASL Airlines Ireland will not carry freight designated as munitions or weapons of war on our Middle East network.
– Additionally, despite not having found any such instances, we have reminded our customers of their responsibility to obtain any relevant export licences and clearances and to inform ASL Airlines Ireland if an item to be carried is dangerous or requires special clearance. Our customers have confirmed compliance.
– Having reflected on the situation and the strength of feeling across our teams, we have made the business decision not to carry certain goods on ASL Airlines Ireland’s Middle East operations including prohibiting freight such as ITAR shipments that could be interpreted as munitions or weapons of war.
Our team members are the core of our business, and we hope these changes help to ensure they feel comfortable in their place of work and confident in the service we provide. We also thank our customers for their flexibility and support throughout this process.
ASL has a proud, decades-long record as a humanitarian aviation group. Most recently, all ASL Airlines continued to operate throughout the Covid pandemic with cargo including vaccines and Personal Protection Equipment delivered across Europe. ASL’s associate airline in Africa has a 40-year record of humanitarian operations for the United Nations World Food Programme and the International Red Cross.
ASL Airlines Ireland will proudly continue its tradition of humanitarian operations and joins with its staff in supporting peace in the Middle East, Ukraine and other areas of conflict.
