NG and BCF Fleet RenewaL

Modernising Our Fleet

We are dedicated to continuously improving our quality and reliability and simultaneously reducing fuel burn in our quest to reach the aviation industry’s commitment to net-zero carbon emissions.

We look at fleet renewal as necessary to improve and grow the services we offer our customers, and also as a key part of our strategy to reduce our carbon emissions.

ASL Airlines Ireland is part of the ASL Group’s Boeing 737-800BCF programme. At the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) conference in Malta in March 2022, ASL Aviation Holdings announced a new order with Boeing for up to 20 additional 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF). The announcement for 10 firm orders and 10 options.

This confirmation follows an earlier agreement for our first 20 Boeing B737-800 BCF aircraft, 10 firm orders and 10 purchase rights, announced at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget in June 2019. The 10 options were confirmed in February 2021.

The first 737-800BCF aircraft for ASL was delivered and entered service with ASL Airlines in January 2021 and the 20th aircraft from the original order will enter service in the last quarter of 2022. Following closely, the first aircraft of the new order is in conversion and will enter service in Q2 2023. Two of these aircraft make up ASLI’s fleet.

With up to 40 B737-800BCF aircraft joining the ASL Group fleet and additional B737-800 freighter and passenger aircraft, ASL is continuously investing significantly in our fleet. This facilitates geographical expansion while improving fuel efficiency and lowering operating costs. As well as greater range and payload, these aircraft offer greater reliability and, crucially, reduce carbon emissions.
